Mini-Course: How to Speak Pashto - Lesson 4 - Present Tense First Person

When you are starting your journey on how to learn Pashto, the very first thing you need to master is the "identity" ending. In the KPK dialect , especially the way we speak in Kohat , the verb usually comes at the very end of the sentence. This is where the rules of Yam and Yu come into play. The word Yam (یم) is used exclusively for yourself. Whenever you start a sentence with " Za " (meaning I), you must finish it with "Yam." It functions like the word "am" in English. For instance, if you want to tell someone you are fine, you say "Za kha yam." Whether you are hungry, tired, or happy, as long as you are talking about yourself, "Yam" is your anchor. It is a simple pattern that builds immediate confidence in your speaking ability. On the other hand, we have Yu (یو). This is the plural form used when you are talking as a group. In our culture, the "we" is often more important than the "I...

Some Random Thoughts...3

Things are getting morbid in Gaza. First, the killing of innocent civilians, especially children, and now obnoxious footage of rape in Israeli prisons; it seems like it's some kind of Satanic ritual. Earlier this year, they were sacrificing a heifer, and now these disgusting antiques. I'm really dismayed with the current development there. 👿🤢☹️

The world 🌎 is getting smaller. Not in terms of size, but the social structure. In ancient times, there would be different groups of people that later came together in the form of tribes. Then they made small villages. Then, they converged to form city-states. Cities combined to form states and countries. Now, we have divisions like Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. So, where are we heading now? I believe, now we are going intragalactic. 🌌🪐

Some of you may not believe in God, but I believe that God is taking us to bigger social structures gradually. I believe, soon we are going to meet our intragalactic neighbors. 👽 Or maybe we already have, who knows! 😉 ⛔🚷

You know the Paris Olympics 2024 is going on in France. Pakistan just got its first gold 🥇 medal after 40 years. This may not be a big deal for a lot of people,e but it was a jubilant moment for all Pakistanis. Arshad Nadeem made a new world record in the Olympics Javelin throw with his 92.97m throw. 🎉🇵🇰

China is leading the point table 🇨🇳 While the US ranks 2nd on the medal table with 30 golds 🥇

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are leading their election campaigns. 🗽🇺🇸
Also, Tornado Dabby is moving towards the North-Eastern states after battering South South-Eastern states. ☔ My thoughts and prayers are with the affected people.

I read a funny story about potatoes in a book. As you may know, potatoes came from
America, i.e., the new world 🌎. While people in the older world 🌍 didn't know about potatoes (just imagine a world without fries 🍟).

So initially, people didn't like this
'delicacy' and gave it the title "Devil Fruit". So the King of Prussia thought of a clever idea. He put security guards around potato fields. People watched it with curiosity, which soon turned into a desire. Security guards deliberately allowed people to sneak into the fields and steal the potatoes. And the rest is history! 🥔🥔

This is a valuable lesson for marketers. By creating scarcity, you can arouse demand in the buyers. That's why things are always about to go out of stock on infomercials and websites. 🛍️🛒

I saw that by journaling my thoughts 💭, I have got more clarity and structure in my thought processes. You should also try it. 📙📝
