Mini-Course: How to Speak Pashto - Lesson 4 - Present Tense First Person

When you are starting your journey on how to learn Pashto, the very first thing you need to master is the "identity" ending. In the KPK dialect , especially the way we speak in Kohat , the verb usually comes at the very end of the sentence. This is where the rules of Yam and Yu come into play. The word Yam (یم) is used exclusively for yourself. Whenever you start a sentence with " Za " (meaning I), you must finish it with "Yam." It functions like the word "am" in English. For instance, if you want to tell someone you are fine, you say "Za kha yam." Whether you are hungry, tired, or happy, as long as you are talking about yourself, "Yam" is your anchor. It is a simple pattern that builds immediate confidence in your speaking ability. On the other hand, we have Yu (یو). This is the plural form used when you are talking as a group. In our culture, the "we" is often more important than the "I...

5 things Leos want you to know

Here is an off-topic article. It just came by the way. Other articles on this blog are also 'by-the-way articles. I added them so you don't get bored with more technical and dry topics.

lion and lioness

As a Fire Sign in the zodiac, Leos naturally attract attention wherever they go. You can identify one from a mile away. Celebrities such as Shoaib Mansoor, Hadiqa Kiyani, Humayun Saeed, Kriti Sanon,  Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jennifer Lopez, Daniel Radcliffe, Barack Obama, and Madonna all have one thing in common – they are Leos. Known for their larger-than-life personalities, Leos often attract both admiration and criticism. 🦁

Some people complain about Leos being stubborn, others label them as flirts, and still others think they’re eccentric, overly proud individuals who can't see beyond their own noses. But here’s what Leos want you to know:

👉We Are Not Flirts

Leos, both men and women, naturally draw attention, which is often misinterpreted as flirtation. If everyone admires the lion, you can’t blame the lion for it. Our charisma is just part of who we are.

👉We Are Not Self-Centered or Eccentric

Leos are known for being strongly opinionated, which others might see as stubbornness or arrogance. But having opinions doesn’t mean we dismiss others' views. We love our opinions, yes, but that doesn’t mean we look down on those who see things differently.

👉We Are Not Lazy

Most of the Leos are also criticized for their laziness. We wait for the right time. The critics need to watch documentaries on lions. Most of the time (except for some hours of the day), you would find the king having a nap under the tree, behind that bush, or even on a tree branch. We are also kind-hearted, so we let others play on the field. But once we come into the action, the rest of the zodiacs watch us from the sideline.

👉We Are Old-Fashioned When It Comes to Love

If you’re looking for loyalty, you won’t find a more dedicated sign than Leo. When we fall for someone, our eyes are on that one person. Others might try to steal the spotlight, but we’re focused on our chosen love.

👉Leos Are Born Leaders

Leos don’t follow trends; we set them. We’re the ones who take the lead and blaze new trails. Just look at Barack Obama, who made history as the first African-American president of the United States, or Madonna, who’s been redefining pop culture for decades.

And let’s not forget about Shoaib Mansoor, who, being a Leo, has never tried to fit into the mold. Instead, he works quietly behind the scenes, but when he roars, he commands the lion’s share of attention. Similarly, in Hollywood, James Cameron exemplifies Leo's leadership. He has consistently pushed boundaries with films like Titanic and Avatar, showing that when a Leo steps up, he grabs the lion's share.

So yes, we Leos attract attention, but that’s just the way we’re wired. 🦁
