Mini-Course: How to Speak Pashto - Lesson 4 - Present Tense First Person

When you are starting your journey on how to learn Pashto, the very first thing you need to master is the "identity" ending. In the KPK dialect , especially the way we speak in Kohat , the verb usually comes at the very end of the sentence. This is where the rules of Yam and Yu come into play. The word Yam (یم) is used exclusively for yourself. Whenever you start a sentence with " Za " (meaning I), you must finish it with "Yam." It functions like the word "am" in English. For instance, if you want to tell someone you are fine, you say "Za kha yam." Whether you are hungry, tired, or happy, as long as you are talking about yourself, "Yam" is your anchor. It is a simple pattern that builds immediate confidence in your speaking ability. On the other hand, we have Yu (یو). This is the plural form used when you are talking as a group. In our culture, the "we" is often more important than the "I...

Here is what has been on my mind this week.

First, I added a like/dislike button at the bottom of the website. It is visible on all pages. You can like (I hope you enjoy my blogs) or dislike (as this will help me improve). But it is not conclusive; you may like one blog post and not the other. So, I am experimenting and will decide whether to add individual buttons on all pages or just go with the global button. Try it 👍/👎

Similarly, I was thinking of shifting my blog from Blogger to another web hosting service with a new blog title. Eventually, I will have to shift my website as the website will grow and have more visitors, God willing. I will only have to redirect the traffic to the new domain and it will be seamless for you. See, I am becoming a programmer! Just kidding :) However, I am learning something new about web development every day. 💻📶

I was thinking about Palestine, too. People in Gaza are desperate and need financial assistance. I heard something good. Jennifer Lopez contributed $4.5 million in aid to Palestine for food and medical supplies. Other celebrities are also supporting the cause. Really appreciable!  🇵🇸

We should also speak about the genocides in other regions, such as Sudan and Congo. I am really pissed off that politicians and military leaders start wars and fling thousands of innocent people into deadly fights. They remain safe in their palaces and barracks, and innocent men, women, and children die in the war zones. Pathetic!  🗺

You may have assumed from my writing (about spirituality and the supernatural), that I am a bit cranked. The truth is, many people know how our normal world and the supernatural world intersect and what happens at the fringes. One thing that people assume is that spirituality and magic are the same thing. But these are the opposite of each other. 😱 👻👺

One concept that people may be interested in is called 'Raja'h' in Arabic. It means bouncing back or rebounding. Sometimes the magic hits back or falls back on the magician. This happens when the targeted person is protected by God. Instead, the spell falls back on the magicians. I am using the word 'magicians' for sorcerers. Magic is a common word, and a sorcerer may not be familiar to some. 💫 🧙

I am also thinking about some amazing social media site ideas. They are so excited. Although it requires a lot of money to create something comparable, what's wrong with flirting with the idea;) Technology (especially AI) has made a lot of things easier, and you need an ingenious idea to get started. If the idea is substantive, you will see traction. 😎💭

That's it. Enjoy your weekend.

Game: China-US AI Competition Getting Hot, So We Said Why Not!

In the unfolding US-China AI war, the latest battlefield reveals a remarkable shift: while the U.S. continues pouring private sector innovation into AI—especially foundational models —China is rapidly catching up through strategic state-backed investments and homegrown chip development .
