Mini-Course: How to Speak Pashto - Lesson 4 - Present Tense First Person

When you are starting your journey on how to learn Pashto, the very first thing you need to master is the "identity" ending. In the KPK dialect , especially the way we speak in Kohat , the verb usually comes at the very end of the sentence. This is where the rules of Yam and Yu come into play. The word Yam (یم) is used exclusively for yourself. Whenever you start a sentence with " Za " (meaning I), you must finish it with "Yam." It functions like the word "am" in English. For instance, if you want to tell someone you are fine, you say "Za kha yam." Whether you are hungry, tired, or happy, as long as you are talking about yourself, "Yam" is your anchor. It is a simple pattern that builds immediate confidence in your speaking ability. On the other hand, we have Yu (یو). This is the plural form used when you are talking as a group. In our culture, the "we" is often more important than the "I...

It has been one year since the Israeli invasion of Gaza. Some estimate that more than 100,000 people have lost their lives in this massacre. 😢 It's alarming for the world that such a shameful act has been allowed to happen. I also condemn the wars in Ukraine, Congo, Sudan, and elsewhere. There is no issue that cannot be resolved through dialogue. We need peace now more than ever. 🌍 There are already numerous global problems—like climate change, hunger, famine, natural disasters, poverty, and illiteracy—that demand urgent action. Wars should be the last thing any sane person would anticipate. ✌️

I’m considering shifting the blog to a new domain. I’m working on the website as we speak. 🛠️ The foremost thing is that it will have a unique domain, without a subdomain like BlogSpot, etc. Secondly, I’ve narrowed down my niche to focus on work-life—everything related to work and business. 💼 I plan to launch the website soon, God willing. 🙏 I hope you'll support this new endeavor! I understand it’s a tough decision since you’ve probably gotten used to the current UI, but I’m making sure the new website keeps a similar feel in terms of branding, UI, UX, and structure. That said, it *will* have some new features and designs—so stay tuned! 😄

Now, my niche is quite broad, like Buzzfeed or Mashable, but they are giants and can churn out endless content. I, on the other hand, am working solo. 👨‍💻 I’ve decided to enlist the help of AI to generate some content, but I promise it will be creative, and not just rehashed versions of existing material. You’ll definitely learn something new—on top of my original content, of course. AI-generated posts will be tagged as such, so if you're not interested (which I highly doubt 😉), you can skip them. But if you *do* give them a read, you’ll discover something amazing! 🤖✨

One thing I've learned over the years, and from reading many books, is that it never hurts to ask for help. As the saying goes, "If you don’t ask, the answer is always no." So here’s how you can support me:

- Share my blog post with at least one of your friends.

- Read my awesome blog (obviously!). 😎

- Play the games I create for you—they’re fun and help boost my SEO! 🎮

- Comment and give your feedback.

- If you’ve got the writing bug, submit something for my blog! ✍️

I recently read *The Energy Bus* by Jon Gordon. It was so interesting, I finished it in a day! 📖 The book lays out ten rules for living a positive life, but what I really liked is that it's told as a story. That’s what makes it stick. If it had been written in a purely non-fictional style, it could have been a bit boring. It tells the story of a middle-aged man whose life is falling apart, but ultimately, his personal and work lives are saved by an angelic bus driver and its passengers. 🚍 I won’t spoil anything—please read it! It’s full of practical tips to bring more positivity into your life. 🌟

That's it, folks, work hard and party harder!
