This little game was born out of my fascination with the internet’s quirkiest pastime — the Wikipedia game “Which Came First?”. If you’ve never played it, the concept is simple but oddly addictive: you’re given two random things, and your job is to guess which one happened earlier.
Sometimes it’s obvious, like The Beatles before One Direction. Other times, it’s a humbling reminder that you might not know history quite as well as you thought (yes, the potato chip bag was invented before bubble wrap — don’t ask).
Since I have an academic soft spot for movies — I actually hold an M.A. in filmmaking and media sciences — I thought: why not make a film-lover’s version of this game? That’s how “Which Hollywood Movie Came First?” came to life.

Instead of guessing between ancient empires and long-forgotten gadgets, you’ll be choosing between iconic Hollywood films.
How to Play: The rules are straightforward: you’ll see two movie posters side by side. Your task is to pick which film hit the big screen first. Once you make your choice, the release years are revealed — sometimes confirming your genius, other times leaving you in disbelief that Movie A is older than Movie B.
The game has 10 rounds, so let’s see how strong your movie knowledge really is.
Why Play? It’s fun, it’s fast, and it might just make you the trivia champion of your next movie night. Plus, it’s a neat way to test how much of that film degree knowledge (and endless IMDb browsing) actually stuck.

If you enjoy this little experiment, do me a favor: share it with a friend who loves movies. After all, nothing bonds people like arguing whether the Titanic came before Jurassic Park. ;)
