Mini-Course: How To Speak Pashto - Lesson 3 "This is"

In this lesson of our Pashto mini-course, we focus on one of the most important and beginner-friendly grammar rules in Pashto: using “Da … de” to say “This is …”. Mastering this structure is a key milestone in How to speak Pashto , because it allows you to describe objects, places, and people from day one. In English, we say, “This is a house.” In Urdu, the equivalent is “Yeh ghar hai.” In Pashto, the same idea is expressed as “Da kor de.” Here, “Da” means this, “kor” means house, and “de” (pronounced like day but with a soft 'D' as in fa th er) works like is. This sentence structure is extremely common in everyday Pashto conversations and forms the foundation of Pashto language basics. Pashto also has masculine and feminine nouns , just like Urdu. For masculine nouns, we commonly use “de”, while feminine nouns often use “da” depending on context and dialect. At the beginner level, focusing on commonly used masculine examples helps learners build confidence ...

AI Music: Tracking The Emotional Journey Through Music - Must Listen!

1. I wrote these verses back in 2012–13, during a time filled with emotional turbulence. It was right after a breakup, a chaotic phase when everything felt uncertain. The pain and confusion naturally spilled into my writing. The verses are in Urdu, so those unfamiliar with the language might not catch the full meaning. That said, I believe the music itself speaks a universal language—one that transcends words.

2. The piece I’m sharing now was written earlier this year, quite spontaneously. I penned a few couplets myself, and two were co-written with ChatGPT (yes, a bit of human–AI collaboration!). I then uploaded it to Suno.ai, added a thoughtful prompt, and the result turned out beautifully, exactly how I had imagined it. When I sent it to a friend, his first reaction was simply, “Wah!” (meaning “Wow!”). So, I think you’ll enjoy it too. Give it a listen.

3. I also wrote another set of verses around 2015–16, though I can’t recall the exact time. I was still in that lingering emotional state, trying to make sense of repeated heartbreaks. Those lines capture the sorrow and melancholy of that period. One of my favorite verses from that time goes: “The wheel of time has turned fast, yet the dust still rises on the path of love.” Even after all these years, that line resonates deeply with me. It’s a reflection not only of love and loss but also of how time keeps moving faster, leaving only traces of what once was.
