Mini-Course: How to Speak Pashto - Lesson 4 - Present Tense First Person

When you are starting your journey on how to learn Pashto, the very first thing you need to master is the "identity" ending. In the KPK dialect , especially the way we speak in Kohat , the verb usually comes at the very end of the sentence. This is where the rules of Yam and Yu come into play. The word Yam (یم) is used exclusively for yourself. Whenever you start a sentence with " Za " (meaning I), you must finish it with "Yam." It functions like the word "am" in English. For instance, if you want to tell someone you are fine, you say "Za kha yam." Whether you are hungry, tired, or happy, as long as you are talking about yourself, "Yam" is your anchor. It is a simple pattern that builds immediate confidence in your speaking ability. On the other hand, we have Yu (یو). This is the plural form used when you are talking as a group. In our culture, the "we" is often more important than the "I...

You are an ambivert if you have the following traits

You might have heard about extroverts and introverts, and maybe you’ve even used those terms to describe yourself. But deep down, you feel like you don’t quite fit into either category. Some days, you want to hibernate under a blanket all day, and the next, you’re out at a party, mingling with everyone. If this sounds like you, don’t worry—you’re not alone. You might be an ambivert, a mix of both personalities. Check out these traits to see if you can relate:

👉You feel incredibly awkward when all eyes are on you during a presentation. But later that evening, you’re the life of the party, cracking jokes with your friends. 😳😆

👉Sometimes, you confidently flag down a waiter from across the room. But when you’re feeling down, you wait quietly, hoping someone will come to check on you.👋

👉You’ll send yourself a text just to look busy at a party. But once you’re comfortable, you’re swapping numbers with that friend’s cousin you just met. 📱

👉You don’t have a ton of close friends, but you have plenty of acquaintances—people you can chat with if you need to. 👫

👉The thought of public speaking terrifies you, and you try to avoid it. But once you get going, you can charm even the toughest crowd. 🎤

👉You might show up to an important meeting in jeans and a T-shirt, but you’re constantly on the lookout for the latest fashion trends👖

👉You’d rather text than talk on the phone. But when you’re texting your significant other, those nighttime data plans never seem long enough. 💬

So, the next time you’re puzzled by your own behavior, remember—you’re an ambivert. Embrace it, and if your friends don't know this term, share it with them.
