Mini-Course: How to Make Films with AI

Artificial intelligence is changing almost every creative industry, and filmmaking is no exception. Just a few years ago, creating a film required expensive cameras, large crews, professional actors, and months of post-production work. Today, AI tools can help generate scripts, create storyboards, produce visuals, synthesize voices, compose music, and even generate video clips from simple text prompts. If you've ever wondered how to make films with AI, there's never been a better time to start learning. The idea of computers assisting filmmakers isn't entirely new. AI has been used behind the scenes in visual effects and editing for years. However, recent advances in generative AI have put powerful filmmaking tools into the hands of ordinary creators. What once required a Hollywood budget can now be accomplished with a laptop, creativity, and a little patience. Well, mostly patience, AI still occasionally decides your hero should have six fingers. Learning how to ma...

I joined TikTok late but I don’t regret it

Lately, as I was searching for a job, I found that many job openings require TikTok experience. To explore the terrain of TikTok, I took the plunge. Although I am late to the party, I don’t regret it. Here is what I experienced:

a zombie dancing

As expected, I was bombarded with a ton of dance videos. I didn’t have earphones—just witnessing folks dance without a beat was as hilariously entertaining as a Charlie Chaplin silent movie. Then there were poetic videos—videos that were the unholy lovechild of bad poetry and obnoxiousness. Absurdity at its best!

Despite this obnoxiousness, the allure of bite-sized content is undeniable. In a world where time is a luxury, TikTok's snackable videos cater perfectly to those on the go, the perpetually busy, or anyone seeking a quick distraction. It's like the fast food of the social media world.

Quality plummets with every other video. My expectation of sensible content hit rock bottom as I scrolled down the feed. From bad grammar and punctuation to cringeworthy pronunciation errors, the platform seemed like a breeding ground for communication mishaps. There is no quality standard. People spew whatever they feel like, no regard for proper grammar, spelling, and pronunciation.

To make matters worse, I encountered a plethora of trivial and downright useless content. I found myself questioning the life choices that led me to watch someone rearrange their sock drawer or attempt to make toast with an iron. Time, apparently, is not always well spent on TikTok.

In conclusion, TikTok has its merits, offering instant, small-sized content to stave off boredom. Yet, the platform's Achilles' heel lies in the need for a serious quality overhaul. As a latecomer, I can't help but hope that TikTok levels up its game, offering not just brevity but also substance in its content.

Game: China-US AI Competition Getting Hot, So We Said Why Not!

In the unfolding US-China AI war, the latest battlefield reveals a remarkable shift: while the U.S. continues pouring private sector innovation into AI—especially foundational models —China is rapidly catching up through strategic state-backed investments and homegrown chip development . Just last week, China announced plans to triple domestic AI chip production next year, launching multiple new fabrication plants to support efforts by firms like Huawei , Cambricon , and DeepSeek . Why does this matter to users like you? Because competition breeds innovation. From smarter apps and faster data processing to more powerful AI tools at your fingertips—whether for work, creativity, or play—users gain access to sharper, more responsive technologies as both superpowers race forward. And speaking of play… imagine a game that humorously captures this tension: “China Deflecting Tech Attacks.” In this lighthearted sport-like simulation, you play as China’s reactive paddle, bounc...

What Really Drives Your Online Shopping Decisions?

Online shopping is a funny thing. One minute you’re looking for a new phone cover, the next you’re convincing yourself that you absolutely need a bread-making machine , even though you barely toast bread. That’s the magic (or madness) of e-commerce —it nudges us, tempts us, and sometimes outright bullies us into buying. But here’s the real question: what actually makes us click "Buy Now"? For some, it’s the glowing reviews from other customers. If enough people say “this vacuum cleaner changed my life,” you start believing it might just change yours too. Others are laser-focused on the price tag—because let’s be honest, nothing beats the thrill of scoring a 50% discount and pretending you “saved” money by spending it. Then there are the visual folks, who can’t resist slick product photos and an irresistible description. (If a frying pan is marketed as “ chef-grade ,” suddenly you’re imagining yourself cooking like Gordon Ramsay —minus the shouting.) Delivery ...
