Mini-Course: How to Make Films with AI

Artificial intelligence is changing almost every creative industry, and filmmaking is no exception. Just a few years ago, creating a film required expensive cameras, large crews, professional actors, and months of post-production work. Today, AI tools can help generate scripts, create storyboards, produce visuals, synthesize voices, compose music, and even generate video clips from simple text prompts. If you've ever wondered how to make films with AI, there's never been a better time to start learning. The idea of computers assisting filmmakers isn't entirely new. AI has been used behind the scenes in visual effects and editing for years. However, recent advances in generative AI have put powerful filmmaking tools into the hands of ordinary creators. What once required a Hollywood budget can now be accomplished with a laptop, creativity, and a little patience. Well, mostly patience, AI still occasionally decides your hero should have six fingers. Learning how to ma...

Game: Which Hollywood Movie Came First? 🎬

This little game was born out of my fascination with the internet’s quirkiest pastime — the Wikipedia game “Which Came First?”. If you’ve never played it, the concept is simple but oddly addictive: you’re given two random things, and your job is to guess which one happened earlier.  Sometimes it’s obvious, like The Beatles before One Direction . Other times, it’s a humbling reminder that you might not know history quite as well as you thought (yes, the potato chip bag was invented before bubble wrap — don’t ask).  Since I have an academic soft spot for movies — I actually hold an M.A. in filmmaking and media sciences — I thought: why not make a film-lover’s version of this game? That’s how “Which Hollywood Movie Came First?” came to life.  Photo by Samuel Regan-Asante on Unsplash Instead of guessing between ancient empires and long-forgotten gadgets, you’ll be choosing between iconic Hollywood films.  How to Play: The rules are straightforward: you’ll se...

Random Thoughts… 10 - Updates, Outrage, and Ideas

Hello and Peace! I’ve been away for a while, caught up once again in the corporate world. Thankfully, it was only a short stint, and now I’m back. This time, I plan to stick around and be more consistent—God willing. Here’s what’s been on my mind these past few months. Gaza Genocide The situation has only worsened during this time, and now we’re witnessing the most horrendous development in the Gaza–Israel war: genocide . After killing thousands of innocent civilians since 2023, Israel is now starving the besieged civilians who have nothing to do with the war. This is one of the most shameful events of the 21st century. Alongside the military, certain religious leaders in Israel also bear responsibility for this tragedy. Over the past two years, their statements have been chilling, and the military has taken action accordingly. When they said to kill even children, the army killed more than 20,000 children (a very conservative estimate—thousands more are still buried under the rubb...

Palestine and Other War Zones It's incredibly disheartening that the conflict in Gaza continues to rage. The displaced are enduring nightmarish conditions and food shortages, exacerbated by the deplorable circumstances in the camps. Let's remember them in our prayers, and if you can, consider making them a priority in your donations. May this war end soon, bringing the Palestinians the well-deserved relief from the prolonged and harsh brutality they've faced. Similar prayers for people in other war zones! Books I Am Reading Recently, I read a few fascinating books: Steve Jobs ' Biography by Walter Isaacson The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell Boundaries by Henry Cloud and John Townsend Financial Freedom by Grant Sabatier Discovering more about Steve Jobs has been particularly intriguing. His personality and work ethos are fascinating, making me wonder how it would have been to work at Apple during his tenure. Interesting Ideas from Books From the books I'm rea...

Behind the Code: Struggles Only Programmers Face

You never knew programming would be so tough thing to do. When you enrolled in the computer college, you were thinking that after some years you would be able to start a new IBM . But unfortunately, life isn't that easy for programmers. This is what your life looks like now:  Your life story......! 1. You use lots of  jargon . When you tell people what you do, people react like this: And some of them forget to blink. Use less jargon, by the way. 2. And your week goes like this.   3.  You do only 2 things most of your life. 4. And you code like a lunatic at 3 a.m. in the morning, only to get this message.  5. And getting it again and again just because you forgot the second “=” sign, and you feel like killing your computer. 6. And your parents think that you are always playing games on the computers. 7. And the dilemma when you try to fix one bug and lots of other bugs creep you out. 8. But only you can feel the joy when your code f...

Random Thoughts... 7

It’s been a while since I shared my random thoughts. Surely you’ve missed these pearls of wisdom (pun intended). Let’s see what’s been on my mind lately.  👉 As predicted, Donald Trump just won the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election . Many people are celebrating, so congratulations to them. Those who supported Kamala Harris must be disappointed, but that's the nature of things—you can’t win every time. Despite opposition from the establishment, Trump still secured the seat with the popular vote. Had this election taken place in Pakistan , Kamala might have reached the White House with establishment support, but that’s another story. There’s hope that Trump might play a role in ending the ongoing war in Gaza . The situation in Gaza remains dire. People have been displaced from northern Gaza yet again, forced to move from one place to another to escape violence. Innocent lives are being lost in the relentless assault by Israeli forces. Let’s see if Trump can help put a stop to this t...

The war in Gaza has escalated to other countries including Lebanon. This is an alarming situation. More than 2,400 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Lebanon with thousands others injured. The situation in Gaza is even direr. We saw that people had been burned alive. This is unacceptable. I know that I should not politicize my blog but it is criminal to stay silent when such a monstrosity is unfolding right in front of our eyes. Back Next Check also: Random Thoughts... Corporate Wisdom: The Tale of the Four Men and Their Interrupted Prayers

In Rumi's Masnavi , there is a story of four men from India who were performing their prayers together. They agreed to remain silent during the prayer, as speaking would invalidate it. However, as soon as they began, the first man noticed an issue with the mosque’s lamp and couldn’t hold back, saying, “Someone should fix that lamp.” The second man, shocked that the first spoke, said, “Why are you talking? You’ve ruined your prayer!” The third man, eager to scold the other two, said, “You fools, why are you both talking during the prayer?” Finally, the fourth man, feeling superior to the others, smugly said, “Thank God, I didn’t say a word!” In the end, all four men broke their silence and invalidated their prayers, each distracted by the faults of the others. The Lesson for Professionals 1. Focusing on Others' Faults While Ignoring Our Own One of the key takeaways from this story is how easy it is to become absorbed in criticizing others without reflecting on our own actions. ...

5 things Leos want you to know

Here is an off-topic article. It just came by the way. Other articles on this blog are also 'by-the-way articles. I added them so you don't get bored with more technical and dry topics.   As a Fire Sign in the zodiac, Leos naturally attract attention wherever they go. You can identify one from a mile away. Known for their larger-than-life personalities, Leos often attract both admiration and criticism. 🦁 Some people complain about Leos being stubborn, others label them as flirts, and still others think they’re eccentric, overly proud individuals who can't see beyond their own noses. But here’s what Leos want you to know: 👉We Are Not Flirts Leos, both men and women, naturally draw attention, which is often misinterpreted as flirtation. If everyone adm...
